Last night I was in LA, and ended up at The Varnish (a speakeasy inside of Cole's, itself an LA institution) where a super sharp #jazz trio laid it down. On a lark I asked them to at some Bill Frisell, which they did with remarkable ease...possibly because the bassist was #DavidPiltch , who has actually played with Frisell...and Holly Cole, and Ana Moura, and KD Lang, and Willie Nelson, and...you get the idea. I've loved his playing for decades and never would have thought serendipity would hit so hard on a random LA Wednesday night.
